Imposing a Five Year Freeze on Genetic Engineering: Research in the field of Genetic Engineering (GE) has now reached a level where its applications are having enormous effects on a global scale. SAFeAGE (South African Freeze Alliance on Genetic Engineering) is committed to ensuring an OUTRIGHT BAN is imposed on genetic engineering in food and farming to ensure sufficient assessment and understanding is gained for all the implications it may have for consumers, farmers and the environment. As an organisation representing the South African public we are seriously concerned about the lack of both public involvement and risk assessment in the face of high levels of corporate secrecy and non-disclosure. We invite you to join us and exercise your democratic right to ensure a choice remains regarding the purchasing of products free of GE ingredients and derivatives. What can you do? Take action! See our campaigns page for details of small and big things you can do to raise awareness of GMOs. If you are interested in contributing to SAFeAGE in any way, or would like to comment on information or articles related to this website, please send us an email. We look forward to hearing from you.
